Auditor

Department Description:

The Auditor's Office is responsible for tax administration for all taxing districts in Le Sueur County. These duties include the maintenance of names, addresses, legal descriptions for tax rolls, truth-in-taxation notice, calculation of property taxes, fiscal disparities, tax increment financing, tax forfeiture, special assessments and the settlement of tax dollars. It administers all fiscal aspects of the county and joint ditches as well as issuance of auctioneer,  beer, liquor, tobacco licensing.

 

The auditor is the Deputy Registrar for the county and administers the Le Sueur County License Center providing Vehicle registrations for cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc.; Recreational licenses such as boat titles, hunting and fishing licenses, etc.; Drivers license renewals, ID cards.

 

The auditor is the Election Administrator for the County and administers all primary, general and special elections and maintains the state-wide voter registration network.

The auditor is responsible for all phases of budget planning, preparation and monitoring. It is also responsible for accounting services such as financial management, debt financing, payroll, inventory of fixed assets.

The auditor is the Clerk of the County Board and prepares County Board agendas and proceedings for all regular and special meetings and maintains the various committees listing. The auditor implements the directives, resolutions, ordinances, and policies of the County Board of Commissioners. It provides guidance and support for all county departments and provides long-term planning for the County in all areas.

The auditor serves on the County Board of Equalization and the County Canvassing Board and is secretary to the Le Sueur County Extension Committee.
