Women Infant and Children (WIC)

What is Women, Infants & Children (WIC)?
  

     * Is a Nutrition and Breastfeeding program
     * Helps eligible pregnant women, new mothers, babies and young children eat well, learn about
        nutrition, and stay healthy.
     * Provides nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods, and referrals to health and
        other social services.

Benefits of being enrolled in the WIC program?
     *  You get nutritious foods at no cost
     *  You receive nutrition counseling for yourself and your children
     *  Healthier pregnancies, healthier births and healthier children!

WIC will provide:
     *  Nutrition tips and advice
     *  Breastfeeding information and support
     *  Referrals for health services
     *  Health foods like cereal, low-fat milk, eggs, peanut butter, beans, whole grains, fresh fruit and vegetables and baby foods

You may be eligible if you meet the income guideline and are a:
     *  Pregnant woman/postpartum woman
     *  Breastfeeding woman
     *  Infant or child up to five years of age

Selling or offering to sell any formula or food provided by WIC or SNAP (Food Stamps) is against the rules and is considered program abuse.  If you have concerns that someone may be selling WIC formula or food, please report it to 507-357-8246 for investigation.  Since many websites/online groups can’t be viewed by non-members and since things can change quickly, please include a screenshot or photo of the posting you’re reporting.  If the posting is on Facebook, please include the full name of the Facebook group in your report.
