The Disabled Veterans program provides a market value exclusion for property tax purposes for the homestead property of an honorably discharged veteran who has a service-connected disability rating of 70% or higher, as determined by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
The annual verification letter from the Veteran’s Administration must accompany the application. Disabled Veterans with a rating of 70% must re-apply annually.
Qualifying veterans who are 70% disabled or more are eligible for a maximum exclusion of $150,000. Qualifying veterans who are 100% disabled are eligible for a maximum $300,000 market value exclusion.
Complete the application and attach all proper documentation. Send the application and required documentation by July 1 of the current year to be eligible for exclusion in the next payable tax year in one of the following ways:
