County Lakes

There are 63 lakes or bodies of water within Le Sueur County. For recreational boating, the most popular lakes within the county are: 

  • Lake Francis is a 927 acre lake near Elysian. The maximum depth is 60 feet with an average water clarity of 5.7 feet. There are 2 public accesses on the lake that both have concrete ramps and a dock, a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on the east end in Elysian, and a county access on the west end.
  • German Lake is a 791 acre lake located in the south central part of the county within the German-Jefferson Chain. The maximum depth is 51 feet with an average depth of 13 feet, and an average water clarity of 8 feet. There is one DNR public access on the lake that features a large parking lot, double concrete ramp, and dock.
  • East Jefferson Lake is a 685 acre lake located in the south central part of the county within the German-Jefferson Chain. The maximum depth is 37 feet. There is one DNR public access on the lake that features a double concrete ramp and dock.
  • West Jefferson Lake is a 439 acre lake located in the southwest part of the county within the German-Jefferson Chain. The maximum depth is 24 feet with an average water clarity of 5.5 feet. There is one DNR public access on the lake that features a large parking lot, concrete ramp, and dock.
  • Ray's Lake is a 168 acre lake located north of Elysian. The maximum depth is 32 feet with an average water clarity of 3.5 feet. There is one county access on the lake that features a gravel ramp and parking lot.
  • Lake Tetonka is a 1,358 acre lake located northwest of Waterville. The maximum depth is 35 feet with an average depth of 19 feet and an average water clarity of 7.1 foot. There is one DNR public access on the lake that features a large parking lot, double concrete ramp, and dock.
  • Lake Volney is a 268 acre lake located east of Le Center. The maximum depth is 67 feet with an average water clarity of 10.8 feet. There is one DNR public access on the lake that features a large parking lot, concrete ramp, and dock.
  • Lake Washington is a 1,519 acre lake located 10 miles northeast of Mankato. The maximum depth is 51 feet with an average water clarity of 2 feet. The lake is one of the most popular recreational boating and fishing lakes in Southern Minnesota. There are 2 DNR public accesses on the lake that both feature large parking lots, double concrete ramps, and docks.
