Gun Permits
Le Sueur County residents who want to apply for a permit to carry a handgun must do so in person at the Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office.
Residents who want to apply for a permit to purchase must apply to the police department in the city in which they reside. If a resident lives in one of the townships in Le Sueur County, then that applicant must apply to the Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office.
Applications for a permit to purchase or carry will be accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office.

Applicants must:
- Apply in person
- Be at least 18 years old to acquire or possess a handgun or military style assault weapon
- Provide photo ID

Requirements
Applicants must:
- Apply in person
- Be at least 21 years old and a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
- Pay the correct fee (Cash or check only, no credit card payments are accepted - Checks should be made payable to Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office):
- $100 fee for new carry permits
- $75 fee for renewal carry permits within 30 days of expiration date
- $25 fee for Veterans, Current Military Personnel and Retired or Active Law Enforcement Officers (must provide valid credentials)
- Provide the original certificate of firearms training by a Minnesota certified instructor
- Provide photo ID

Change of Address - Permit to Carry
Permit to Carry address changes are done by the Issuing Sheriff's Office. This applies to any address change for the life of your permit card. See the expiration date in the upper right hand corner. If your Carry permit was Issued by Le Sueur County please complete this process:
- Your Driver's License must be updated with your new address before coming to the Sheriff's Office to update your Carry permit.
- Once that is completed, come to the Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office located at:

Le Center, MN 56057 - You will need to complete the first page of the Minnesota Uniform Firearm Application for Permit to Carry a Pistol (PDF).
- Also bring a copy of your Driver's License that has your updated address.
- If you would like a new permit card showing your new address there is a $10 fee. It is not required to get a new permit card.
