Investigations

The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit is comprised of 1 Sergeant and 3 investigators.  The unit investigates a wide variety of crimes against people and property. The unit also prepares and executes search warrants, recovers stolen property, collects evidence for use in prosecution, and conducts computer forensic investigations which involves the recovery of electronic evidence and data for the purpose of solving crimes. The investigators also work in conjunction with other county, state and federal agencies in an effort to solve crimes.

The investigators receive specialized training in investigative techniques, arson investigation, child abuse, computer forensics, white collar crime, interviewing techniques and many other valuable skills.

The investigators assigned to the investigative unit work on a wide range of cases, including: 

  • Adult Protection
  • Burglary
  • Child Protection
  • Financial Crimes
  • Fraud
  • Homicide
  • Physical Assault
  • Sexual Assault
  • Theft

Cannon River Drug & Violent Offender Task Force

In 2017 Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office joined the Cannon River Drug and Violent Offender Task Force which is made up of Faribault Police Department, Northfield Police Department, Rice County Sheriff's Office and Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office. CRDVOTF is a specialized investigative unit targeting mid- to upper-level drug dealers and violent offenders in Rice and Le Sueur counties. Its goal is to reduce crime and improve safety and security.
